ROLE PLAY GUIDLINES.

Star Citizen: Role Players Guidelines

This guide is to encourage a healthy role playing environment for anyone that may wish to dive more into the immersive verse and to bring other ORGS/Players together with basic understandings.

General Rules:

Age Requirement may be up to ORGS

Encourage the use of VOIP as this adds so much more to rp but be respectful of those that can't.

Your Characters should have somewhat realistic names, should not be a parody of any real world people, and MUST NOT break ToS.

Don’t be toxic, this includes on any platform (community reddits/discords, streams, or any other medium. Failing to do so can have you removed from them at any point.

Stay in character at all times:

In the event there is an issue, Attempt to role-play out of the scenario and player report if needed. Do not break character to inform the other player they are breaking the immersion as that leads to more of the same.

Do not bait others into breaking role play, either by words or actions as this will be frowned upon and could lead to disciplinary action through the ORG(s)

/OOC Usage:

OOC chat should be restricted to RP stopping technical issues and is for things that cannot be handled through RP

Metagaming:

In particular, metagaming often refers to having in-game characters act on knowledge that the player has access to, but the character should not.

In short this means if it's not in game it never happened. Your character is not YOU, They don't know things that you do for example.... Do you know how to fly a spaceship? No, see your character already knows something you don't... pretty cool right? Kinda works both ways like that.

Fail RP (Fail Role Play):

Always maintain immersion by avoiding unrealistic actions during roleplay scenarios.

Consider the realism of your actions and ask yourself if you would do them in real life.

Examples of Fail RP include neglecting injuries, unrealistic communication methods, cop baiting, and breaking character.

Abuse of Game Mechanics:

Do not exploit game mechanics for an unfair advantage.

Avoid using game features in unrealistic ways to evade situations or gain an advantage over others.

Abuse of Bugs:

Exploiting bugs or glitches for personal gain is strictly prohibited.

Report any discovered bugs promptly to maintain fair gameplay.

VDMing/DMing/RDMing (Deathmatching):

Do not engage in random acts of violence without valid roleplay reasons.

Purposefully harming others without justification will result in severe consequences.

Character Binaries:

Respect all players regardless of their character's ethnicity, gender, or preferences.

Avoid using offensive language or behavior that targets individuals based on real-life attributes.

Getting Star Citizened:

Getting Star Citizened means you did everything right and the game said nuh uh.

Buzzing the Space stations only for that strut spinning around to blow you up even though it was clear on your end.

Congratulations you have just been Star Citizened!

In the event that you do get Star Citizened or even crash, there are a few ways to handle this.

The player can make an attempt to return to their last death marker (in the event of invisible asteroids or such) and continue onward from that point as if it never happened.

The player, if not part of group activities, can play it off as a waking dream and go about it again anew.

Roll with it, unfortunately the laws of physics are still a mystery and sometimes weird things happen.

In the event a player crashes they should attempt to get back to where they crashed from, especially if the player is involved in a rp situation, players are encouraged to act as if they never left in the first place once they return, Another player should attempt to take over the RP in the absence to keep things rolling along

New Life Rule (NLR):

If you are downed and respawn at a hospital (excluding prison awakenings) your character forgets the immediate events leading up to being downed in the current scenario. You may not respawn if you have been advised of medical rescue.

You MUST attempt raising a medical beacon and wait no less than 5 minutes for another player to offer their assistance. If no sign of medical rescue is given the player may respawn.

Not Valuing Life (NVL):

Not realistically fearing for your life when you are threatened with weapons or severe harm from other means.

Antagonizing players for no in character reason.

Players should not insert themselves into an ongoing situation if it doesn't involve them.

Initiation:

Initiate role play scenarios clearly and allow others the opportunity to respond appropriately.

Ensure both parties have an equal opportunity to participate in roleplay interactions.

Consent:

Obtain consent before engaging in graphic or potentially offensive roleplay scenarios.

Use OOC chat to discuss and confirm consent for sensitive roleplay situations.

Mental Disorder Roleplay:

Zero tolerance for roleplaying mental disorders that may offend or trigger other players.

Avoid playing characters with mental disorders or engaging in related roleplay scenarios.

Player Reporting/Community Bans

These should be reported through admins of Allied ORGS and through our communities. While we can not issue game bans and do our BEST to support CiG and the ToS, we should not tolerate bad players in our communities, we want those that want to participate more in the world as people, not just ones and zeros. Bans could involve blacklisting from future ORG Gatherings, Discords, and other event information.

Violation of any of these rules may result in penalties depending on the severity and frequency of the offense. Let's uphold the spirit of immersive roleplay and create an enjoyable gaming environment for all players.
